That Time I Almost Became a Model… (For About Five Minutes).
Back in 1995, I was completely lost.
I had just lost my software company, had no idea what to do with my life, and even less of an idea of how to make a living.
One thing I knew for sure – I was done with computers.
But what next? No clue.
Somehow (and I truly can’t remember how), the idea of modeling popped up.
Maybe someone suggested it, maybe I had a moment of delusional optimism – but there I was, 27 years old, tall, ridiculously skinny, and with hair halfway down my back.
In Israel, where the typical male look was all about post-army toughness and machismo, I definitely stood out.
Maybe, just maybe, that could work in my favor?
So, I went all in.
Booked a professional photoshoot on the streets of Tel Aviv, struck my best “brooding artist meets rockstar” poses, and a week later, I held my very own modeling portfolio in my hands.
And then… life happened.
Shortly after, Vered and I left for India, where the trip took a turn I could never have predicted.
Somewhere between the chaos and the calm, I had one of those crystal-clear realizations – my path wasn’t about standing in front of a camera.
It was about working with people.
And apparently, the next stop on that journey was Holland, to study psychotherapy and group leading.
So, just days after returning from our trip to Poona (India) and Findhorn (Scotland), I packed my bags, moved to Amsterdam, and dove into an entirely new chapter of life.
The whole modeling thing?
It faded into the background almost instantly.
The photos got shoved into a drawer and forgotten for years – until one day, they resurfaced like a time capsule from a life that could have been.
Now, looking back, they make me smile.
A fun, slightly ridiculous reminder of a time when I was so lost, I actually considered becoming a model.
But hey, at least I have the photos to prove it!
