2017 – 48 Life Lessons.

My 49th Birthday Event and the 48 Life Lessons I Shared.

As I’m writing this, it’s been nearly two months since Vered and I launched this website, and what a journey it’s been!
Every single day, without fail, each of us shared a new picture or video, turning what started as a simple “online photo album” into something much more meaningful.

Just yesterday, Vered had this incredible realization: our website has become a living testament to the lessons life has taught us.
I couldn’t agree more, and I love that it’s grown into this unexpected treasure trove of insights.

So today, I’m excited to share something special – a video of a lecture I gave on my 49th birthday, where I laid out the 48 life lessons I wanted to share with Thom, our students and the world.
It’s a little slice of the wisdom I’ve gathered over the years, and I hope it would inspire others as much as these lessons have shaped me!

Here’s a list of the 48 life lessons I elaborate on in the video:

  1. Get rid of your TV.
  2. Don’t consume news media.
  3. Go on an email and social media diet.
  4. Meditate.
  5. Experience more.
  6. Get lost more.
  7. Do random acts of kindness.
  8. Acknowledge yourself. A lot.
  9. Strive to be interested rather than interesting.
  10. Hug the people in your life.
  11. Ask for what you want.
  12. To get to important people, find out what you can do for them.
  13. Fire your parents and quit being a parent (when your kids grow up).
  14. Tell your partner “I love you” every day.
  15. Tell your kids to “choose wisely.”
  16. The best lesson for your children is to love their mother/father and treat them well.
  17. Simplify your life—ask yourself, “Do I really love this?”
  18. Spend time alone.
  19. Take a vision week at least once a year.
  20. When in trouble, find another problem and one solution for both.
  21. Be passionate about something (anything).
  22. Eat healthy, listen to your body.
  23. Move your body every day.
  24. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
  25. Give first (gift economy).
  26. Use leverage—OPM, OPT, OPK (the power of joint ventures).
  27. Learn to delegate. Then delegate.
  28. Give everyone in your business a way to contribute.
  29. The Profit Formula: P = V x N.
  30. The more stuff you give away for free, the faster you’ll succeed.
  31. Invest in your education.
  32. Become really good at the Super Skills (earning multiplying skills).
  33. Buy experiences, not things.
  34. Focus on the few things that are really important for you; be cheap on everything else.
  35. When buying something, ask yourself, “Is it beautiful, or useful, or both?”
  36. Cut your expenses.
  37. Trust that everything is OK the way it is.
  38. Got an idea? Execute immediately.
  39. Make as many mistakes as fast as possible.
  40. Go the extra mile (including following up).
  41. It’s what you’re doing when no one is watching that matters.
  42. Make a list of things that scare you and start doing them one by one.
  43. Ask yourself important questions.
  44. Read more, mainly non-fiction.
  45. Set goals and make them big (10X).
  46. Plant and grow a fruit tree.
  47. Create a life plan.
  48. Make a list of life lessons and share them with your loved ones.
