The First Time We Took Kesem in the Car.
Meet Kesem, our four-legged charmer who showed up unexpectedly on our doorstep one chilly January day in 2022.
From the moment he arrived, it was clear: Kesem had decided that our home – and especially Vered – belonged to him.
Despite being in good health and well-cared for, it seemed Kesem had been abandoned nearby, leaving him with a deep-rooted fear of cars. Our attempts to get him into vehicles were met with resistance, even with the help of a dog trainer. Patience, treats, and (not so) gentle nudges all didn’t work.
Then came a breakthrough day in May.
With a mix of bribery, persuasion, and a bit of a nudge, we finally got Kesem into the back of our car.
Off we went to Chinyero, the last active volcano on Tenerife, for a scenic day hike.
Though the car ride was a nerve-wracking experience for him, once we hit the trail, Kesem transformed.
He loved the freedom of the forest, the symphony of new scents, and the joy of exploring.
This photo captures a moment of that adventure.
Getting him back into the car afterward?
Let’s just say it was a tough task, leaving us all a bit traumatized.
That day marked our last car adventure with Kesem for almost two years…
Stay tuned for what happened next!
