My 49th Birthday Event and the 48 Life Lessons I Shared.
As I’m writing this, it’s been nearly two months since Vered and I launched this website, and what a journey it’s been!
Every single day, without fail, each of us shared a new picture or video, turning what started as a simple “online photo album” into something much more meaningful.
Just yesterday, Vered had this incredible realization: our website has become a living testament to the lessons life has taught us.
I couldn’t agree more, and I love that it’s grown into this unexpected treasure trove of insights.
So today, I’m excited to share something special – a video of a lecture I gave on my 49th birthday, where I laid out the 48 life lessons I wanted to share with Thom, our students and the world.
It’s a little slice of the wisdom I’ve gathered over the years, and I hope it would inspire others as much as these lessons have shaped me!
Here’s a list of the 48 life lessons I elaborate on in the video:
- Get rid of your TV.
- Don’t consume news media.
- Go on an email and social media diet.
- Meditate.
- Experience more.
- Get lost more.
- Do random acts of kindness.
- Acknowledge yourself. A lot.
- Strive to be interested rather than interesting.
- Hug the people in your life.
- Ask for what you want.
- To get to important people, find out what you can do for them.
- Fire your parents and quit being a parent (when your kids grow up).
- Tell your partner “I love you” every day.
- Tell your kids to “choose wisely.”
- The best lesson for your children is to love their mother/father and treat them well.
- Simplify your life—ask yourself, “Do I really love this?”
- Spend time alone.
- Take a vision week at least once a year.
- When in trouble, find another problem and one solution for both.
- Be passionate about something (anything).
- Eat healthy, listen to your body.
- Move your body every day.
- Don’t sweat the small stuff.
- Give first (gift economy).
- Use leverage—OPM, OPT, OPK (the power of joint ventures).
- Learn to delegate. Then delegate.
- Give everyone in your business a way to contribute.
- The Profit Formula: P = V x N.
- The more stuff you give away for free, the faster you’ll succeed.
- Invest in your education.
- Become really good at the Super Skills (earning multiplying skills).
- Buy experiences, not things.
- Focus on the few things that are really important for you; be cheap on everything else.
- When buying something, ask yourself, “Is it beautiful, or useful, or both?”
- Cut your expenses.
- Trust that everything is OK the way it is.
- Got an idea? Execute immediately.
- Make as many mistakes as fast as possible.
- Go the extra mile (including following up).
- It’s what you’re doing when no one is watching that matters.
- Make a list of things that scare you and start doing them one by one.
- Ask yourself important questions.
- Read more, mainly non-fiction.
- Set goals and make them big (10X).
- Plant and grow a fruit tree.
- Create a life plan.
- Make a list of life lessons and share them with your loved ones.
