A Sunset Dinner on Amsterdam’s Canals.
What’s the first image that pops into your mind when you think of Amsterdam? Canals, right? (Okay, maybe windmills are a close second.)
There’s something quintessentially touristy about taking a boat ride through those iconic waterways, but Yoni and I had always steered clear of that cliché.
That is, until the perfect opportunity knocked on our door!
Known for his boundless creativity and knack for surprises, Yoni decided to spice things up for my 47th birthday.
He discovered a charming little company offering an enchanting canal cruise with a delightful twist: a sunset dinner!
I mean, could there be anything more romantic than drifting through Amsterdam’s picturesque canals as the sun dips below the horizon?
So, on July 15, 2007, which serendipitously fell on a Sunday, we embarked on a magical evening of fun and romance.
Some might argue that having a child with us would spoil the mood, but for me, Thom was the absolute cherry on top of this delightful sundae!
She snapped adorable photos of us, eagerly attempted to steer the boat through the canals, and infused the evening with her infectious joy.
We had the entire boat to ourselves, complete with a soundtrack of soft music, delicious food, and that breathtaking sunset painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.
As we glided along the water, I finally understood the allure of those canal boat rides.
They offer a unique perspective of Amsterdam’s beauty, and our evening felt like something straight out of a fairy tale.
And let me tell you, the romance didn’t stop there! As the sun set and we returned home, our night took a more adventurous turn—one that could only be described as X-rated.
