10 Years of Uncharted Wonders.
For most of our lives, trips were strictly for vacations. Day trips? Never heard of ’em.
We were too busy being serious, hardcore workaholics to even consider the concept.
But then we moved to Tenerife—and suddenly, life became one giant adventure park. This island practically begged us to get out and explore it.
Once we settled into our new home, we made it a sacred ritual: once a week, we’d jump in the car, hit the road, and just see where the island would take us.
Some days, it was all about road trips—just picking a random side road and letting it lead us to who knows where.
The more remote, uphill, and dusty, the better. Sure, sometimes we’d hit a dead end—a massive boulder blocking the way—cue the terrifying three-point turn on a cliffside road, where I’d usually be holding my breath and squeezing my eyes shut, praying for solid ground.
And when there was no turning around? Yeah, that meant reversing the entire way back, my heart pounding while Yoni casually handled it like a pro.
Other days, we’d drive to a spot and set off on foot, hiking and wandering—sometimes on official trails, sometimes on paths that were more like vague suggestions.
Yoni loved those unmarked, wild trails. Me? Not so much.
My definition of “fun” doesn’t include getting lost in the middle of nowhere, but hey, marriage is about compromise, right?
We quickly realized that even if we lived here for 25 years, we’d still never see it all.
There’s always another hidden spot, another winding road, another trail daring us to follow it.
Tenerife is one giant adventure park, and it never gets old.
After 10 years, we’re still finding new places and roads that surprise us, making life here feel like an endless treasure hunt.
Sometimes, I seriously wonder why I bother planning expensive trips to faraway places when there’s a whole world just outside our doorstep waiting to be discovered.
Here’s to more road trips, more wild adventures, and more memories on this magical island!
