Our Family Collage on the Balcony.
Vered and I landed in the Netherlands broke and buried in debt.
For years, vacations – especially abroad – were out of the question as we worked tirelessly to get back on our feet.
Eventually, once we gained some stability and with little Thom in tow, we’d manage an annual escape to a budget-friendly, all-inclusive hotel in Turkey.
Thom loved the pool, I cherished the hotel bed, and as for Vered… well, her favorite part remains a mystery.
These trips weren’t glamorous, but they were affordable, easy, and gave us a much-needed yearly breather.
Once our business took off and our finances improved, we held onto our frugal habits, except for two big upgrades: Thom’s schooling and our vacations.
When it came to vacations, we shifted our mindset from taking breaks to creating unforgettable adventures.
We believe that buying experiences is a wise investment, providing joy, excitement and togetherness in the moment and paying dividends in the form of cherished memories for years to come.
Just before we moved to Tenerife in July 2015, we created a photo collage that we hanged on our balcony as we moved.
This “dividend board” features snapshots from our family vacations – safari in Africa, adventure in Thailand, swimming with dolphins in Curaçao, goofing off in Paris and London…
It also showcases our individual escapades – my mountain climbing trips and Vered’s Camino de Compostela – and highlights our wild activities like scuba diving, petting tigers. snakes and crocodiles, Muay Thai training, mud floating, karting…
Often, Vered and I sit on the balcony sofa, enjoying lunch, looking at the photos and reminiscing about the stories behind them.
This entire website is an extension of that memory board, a place to preserve and share thousands of memories from our life together for years to come.
