2007 – A Family Day at Keukenhof.

Springtime Magic: A Family Day at Keukenhof Gardens.

On April 28, 2007, just a couple of days before Thom’s 10th birthday, we took a family trip to the Keukenhof Gardens with my parents.

It was one of those rare, perfect spring days when the sun was out, warming the breeze, and everything around us seemed to be in bloom.

Known as “the Garden of Europe,” Keukenhof felt like stepping into a fairytale, with endless paths of flowers painting the landscape in vibrant reds, yellows, and purples.

We wandered through it together, taking our time to appreciate the careful arrangements that seemed to stretch on forever.

Walking together, we pointed out our favorite flowers to each other – Thom always seemed to pick out the brightest tulips, while my parents reminisced about gardens they’d visited in the past.

We laughed, took photos, and soaked in the beauty around us.
At every turn, there was a new view to admire: little bridges over ponds, fragrant hyacinths, and daffodils swaying with the breeze.

My parents were truly in their element, finding joy in each garden section, admiring how each flower bed was planted with such precision and love.

Thom, meanwhile, discovered the tiny petting zoo nestled in the gardens, where she met some new furry friends.
She lit up with excitement, especially around the goats, and we took turns swinging each other and playing together on the swings nearby.
It was such a simple pleasure but somehow felt magical amidst the flower fields.

As the day went on, we knew this was one of those rare, perfect family outings we’d remember – sharing a laugh with my parents and Thom, feeling the warmth of the sun, and being surrounded by nature’s beauty, all together.
