A Family Adventure in Paris.
For Thom’s first birthday, we took her to Paris.
It wasn’t exactly the dream trip we’d hoped for—she spiked a high fever, and we had to cut it short.
Naturally, she didn’t remember much from that whirlwind visit.
But when Thom turned 13, we knew we wanted to do something extra special.
This time, we had our sights set on EuroDisney.
Sure, Disney World in the US was out of reach, but Paris had its own magic.
Still, Paris isn’t exactly budget-friendly, and neither is EuroDisney.
Between the entrance fees, travel, and food, it felt like we might need to take out a small loan just to pull it off.
So, I went into full-on bargain-hunter mode, scouring the internet for months until I finally found a deal that felt like winning the lottery: three days at the park, accommodations nearby, and transportation included. It was perfect!
We decided to take the train to Paris, giving ourselves a day to explore the city before heading to the park.
The real excitement for Thom, of course, was EuroDisney, but for Yoni and me, it was all about wandering the streets of Paris with her.
We were blessed with a stunning spring day, perfect for strolling through parks, catching street performances at the Pompidou Center, and making our way up to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur.
The real surprise came when we passed by the Louvre with its famous glass pyramids.
Thom suddenly lit up and asked, “Isn’t this where the Mona Lisa is?”
When we confirmed, she immediately wanted to visit.
Naturally, we said yes—me with enthusiasm, Yoni with a bit less.
As if by magic, we discovered that it was the first Friday of the month and after 6 PM, which meant… free entry!
Talk about serendipity! Thom and Yoni beelined it to the Mona Lisa, while I took my time soaking in other masterpieces.
We agreed to meet up after two hours, each of us having our own little adventure within the Louvre’s walls.
It turned out to be an unexpected bonus to an already unforgettable birthday celebration for Thom.
Paris had worked its magic on us once again.
