2016 – The Last Business Bootcamp.

The Business Bootcamp: A Bold Vision, A Lasting Legacy.

The Business Bootcamp was my career’s pride and joy.

After years of running 40 events annually with 100 participants each, I found myself exhausted and searching for a better way.
During one of my vision weeks, a flash of insight struck: instead of leading many smaller events, why not host fewer but larger ones?
With this new vision, I gathered my team in early January 2010 and shared an ambitious goal: to host our first 1,000-person event within just eight weeks.

My team, initially shocked, quickly pivoted to a mindset of “how can we make this possible?”
The challenges were immense.

We had to secure a venue large enough for our vision – a daunting task given the limited options and astronomical costs.
The event itself was almost free for participants, which meant we had to invest heavily upfront without any guarantee of returns.
A near-last-minute conflict with the venue owner added to the tension, but we managed to resolve it just in time.

Behind the scenes, I was struggling with my own fears.
Standing in front of 1,000 people for two days, maintaining high energy, delivering immense value, and – most terrifying -selling from the stage, felt overwhelming.
Failure would mean financial ruin.

Yet, when the first Bootcamp finally took place in February 2010 with 850 participants, the results were astonishing.
As I presented our paid offer from the stage and watched hundreds rush to the back of the room to sign up, I knew we had hit the jackpot.
Not only had we created a financial success, generating over 20 million euros over seven years, but we had also found a way to significantly contribute to the Dutch economy, injecting over half a billion euros during a time of financial crisis.

Over time, the Business Bootcamp became more than just an event – it became a movement.
I discovered a newfound passion for being on stage, enjoying the role of guiding thousands of small entrepreneurs to grow and save their businesses.
Our success stories were numerous, with over 20,000 feedback forms collected and countless testimonials shared.
We even published a yearly book, “Kooplopers” (Trail Blazers), sharing the incredible journeys of our students.

In 2016, after 25 trainings and around 25,000 participants, we decided to conclude the Business Bootcamp.
Our final event, with nearly 2,000 participants, was our largest yet, filled with special surprises and unforgettable moments.

Below, you’ll find some impressions from the Business Bootcamp, used to promote our final session in the autumn of 2016.
This post is a tribute to the incredible journey we’ve had and the countless lives we’ve impacted along the way.
