Exploring La Palma: A Birthday Adventure.
When Vered and I were deciding how to celebrate my 43rd birthday, we realized it was the perfect time to explore a new Canary Island.
We had previously visited La Gomera, which we loved, and Gran Canaria, which didn’t quite click with us.
La Palma, the greenest and wettest of the Canary Islands, was on our radar for its stunning landscapes, greenery and water… and it didn’t disappoint.
Our trip started with a ferry ride across the ocean, a short journey but one that set the tone for our adventure.
As soon as we arrived, the island greeted us with a unique blend of volcanic terrain and lush greenery.
Over the next three days, we drove around the island, enjoying its beauty.
The landscape was a striking contrast of black volcanic rock and vibrant green vegetation, with endemic purple plants adding a special touch.
La Palma’s reputation for waterfalls was well-earned; we spent some fun moments fooling around near a spectacular waterfall.
The water cascaded down with a force that echoed in the surrounding cliffs, creating a beautiful sight.
Despite the natural beauty and fun moments, by the third day, both Vered and I felt the pull of home.
While we enjoyed our breakfasts on the terrace of our little AirB&B, savoring the quiet mornings, there was a growing sense of longing to return to the familiar comfort of Tenerife.
The trip gave us some beautiful memories, but it also reminded us of how much we cherish our life at home.
