Mongol Rally 2021: The Adventures Begin!
(A fun, 55-second journey with Diana, the unstoppable “junk-mobile”)
The video kicks off with a proud moment – me picking up Diana, our 40-year-old Toyota Starlet, all decked out in its epic jungle-themed stickers, thanks to a generous sponsor back in the Netherlands who designed and applied them for free.
The excitement of seeing Diana in full rally mode was undeniable!
Then, it’s the first drive away – me grinning from ear to ear as we hit the road.
A quick shot of the crazy decorations I bought to give Diana some extra flair comes next (because no rally car is complete without some wild add-ons, right?)
Before long, I pause to show off the insane 20,000-km route plastered on the rear window – a reminder of the wild ride ahead!
Next up: collecting our team t-shirts and flag, which, spoiler alert, didn’t make it very far (thanks, wind!)
Gerdy, my trusty co-pilot for this leg, makes her first appearance before a montage of me taking breaks and handling the wheel like a pro.
But, of course, no adventure is complete without some drama: cue the flat tire in Germany.
Turns out the spare tire wasn’t roadworthy either, but we limped to a garage 20 km away just before closing, snagging two extra tires (and thank goodness for that!)
Finally, the video wraps with a cheeky clip of me zipping around Prague on an electric scooter for fun, followed by the final shot of me gearing up to sleep in Diana before the big start of the rally.
