2006 – Going Bananas at Apenheul.

Laughter, Leaves, and Lots of Monkeys.

Raising a daughter with a need for speed and a love for action-packed adventures was no easy task!
When Thom was younger, our rare work-free weekends were all about finding ways to channel her boundless energy.
Most of the time, that meant trips to adrenaline hotspots like Walibi World or Efteling, where rollercoasters and daredevil activities kept her and her friends entertained for hours. Thankfully, as she got older, I was spared from joining her on those terrifying rides.

But even Thom eventually reached her limit with theme parks.
Cue my mission to find something new and just as exciting. That’s when I stumbled upon Apenheul—the magical place where humans and primates mingle.

Now, Thom and Yoni weren’t exactly zoo enthusiasts, but Apenheul wasn’t your average animal park.
Imagine a space where more than 300 primates roam freely, hopping around as if they own the place.
Toss in playgrounds, educational activities, and the promise of a unique experience, and even Yoni agreed to tag along.

So, one crisp October day, we packed up Thom and her friend Uma for a full day of monkey business—literally.
The girls were enchanted from the moment we stepped foot into this wonderland.
They posed with the primates, mimicked their playful antics, and laughed at their cheeky behavior.
With the vibrant colors of autumn as a backdrop, the combination of nature, animals, and pure joy made for a day to remember.

It was more than just an outing—it was a beautiful family adventure filled with laughter, connection, and a few monkey-inspired moves!
